  1. IMPORTANT - ABOUT EasyHelp

  4. Make sure you read the file DISCLAIM.TXT

  6. This is version 2.31 of EasyHelp for Word 2.0c. It is issued as FREEWARE,
  7. you can copy this version and distribute it freely (your only
  8. obligation is to give me some feedback on the product). Support provided
  9. via Email and telephone support to overcome teething problems is free. 
  10. Support over and above this is chargeable.

  12. A version for Word 6 and a version to produce HTML files is available.

  17. IMPORTANT - TO GET IT WORKING
  18. ---------

  20. To complete the installation you MUST run the tutorial by clicking on the
  21. EasyHelp Tutorial icon in the EasyHelp Program Manager Group.
  22.  
  23. (This icon loads INSTALL.DOC into Word which installs the EasyHelp template
  24. and then automatically loads the tutorial document).

  27. EasyHelp: Quick Start
  28. ---------------------
  29.  
  30. If you are an experienced computer user you may want to get going quickly.
  31. If this is the case, at least read this page! If you are not an experienced
  32. user please install EasyHelp, read the manual and browse through the online
  33. help. Then load the tutorial document to learn how to use EasyHelp.

  35. Installing EasyHelp:
  36. --------------------

  38. 1    Run a:setup to install EasyHelp.
  39.  
  40. 2.    Run the tutorial from the tutorial icon.
  41.  
  42. Preparing to use EasyHelp
  43. -------------------------
  44.  
  45. 1     Load Microsoft Word.
  46.  
  47. 2     Create a new document based on the EasyHelp template.
  48.      or
  49.     Load an existing document and then attach the EasyHelp template
  50.     to it.  
  51.  
  52. 3     Quickly check that EasyHelp is configured correctly by clicking on
  53.     the configure icon on the Word toolbar. (Or select Tools | ⌐
  54.     Configure EasyHelp from the menu)

  56. Using EasyHelp
  57. --------------
  58.  
  59. 1    Create some topics by positioning the cursor on the heading of each
  60.     topic and clicking the topic icon on the Word toolbar (Or select
  61.     Insert | ⌐ EasyHelp Topic from the menu)
  62.  
  63. 2     Create some links (to the topic that you have defined) by
  64.     highlighting the text that is to be used as the link and clicking
  65.     the link icon on the Word toolbar (Or select Insert | ⌐ 
  66.     EasyHelp Link from the menu)
  67.  
  68. 3     Your document is now 'marked up'. You must now process this 'markup'
  69.     by clicking the process icon on the Word toolbar (Or select Tools
  70.     | ⌐ Process Markup from the menu)
  71.  
  72. 4    Finally build your help file by clicking on the build icon on the
  73.     Word toolbar (or select Tools | ⌐ Build Help from the menu)
  74.  
  75. Thats it! You have now created a Microsoft Help file by following four
  76. simple steps:

  78.     1. Create Topics    (T) 
  79.     2. Create Links        (L)                 
  80.     3. Process the 'markup'    (P)
  81.     4. Build the Help file    (B)

  85. This is actually version 2.31 of EasyHelp but the documentation is still
  86. at version 2.0. So the online help and tutorial are not entirely accurate.
